Why It’s Never Too Late To Chase Your Dream.

Do You Remember How to Dream?

Do you remember what it was like to dream as a child?
When you thought absolutely anything was possible. That you could be an astronaut, a pop star, and an ice cream truck driver all in the same week? If you could dream it, you could do it. No hesitation. No fear.

We lose that somewhere along the way to adulthood. I’m not exactly sure why.
Some might say “reality sets in,” but honestly? That answer feels too sad to accept.

It’s like how a child will look you in the eye and say, “No Auntie, your cooking really isn’t that great.”
Brutal—but honest. As adults, we learn to filter ourselves. We stop saying the things we truly feel.
And sometimes, we stop listening to what we truly want.

When We Put Dreams Away

I believe the dreams we had as children were planted on our hearts for a reason.
Even if we forget about them or push them aside, they rarely disappear completely. They wait patiently, on the back burner, until we’re ready to notice them again.

Like my dream of writing.

I’ve always loved to write. I thrived on school assignments, filled journals, and made up short stories just because it brought me joy.
But somewhere along the way, I convinced myself I needed a “real” job. That writing wouldn’t be enough to make it in the real world.

Oh, how I wish I could go back and tell that young girl: don’t give up on that dream.

It’s Not Too Late

Now, thirty-five-ish years later, I’m doing it.
I’ve finished the first draft of my novel, I’m knee-deep in editing, and I’m learning more every day.

Is my process perfect? Not even close.
Some days it’s messy, slow, or uncertain. But I’m working toward something that lights up my soul—something that makes me smile from ear to ear.
And I know I’ll never stop.

Sure, I may need to do other things along the way too. And that’s okay.
But I’ve decided (my husband loves when I say this) that the dreams placed on our hearts are there for a reason. And there’s no good reason not to pursue them.

What If You Tried?

What do you have to lose?
What if you try, and fail?

At least then, you’ll know you tried.
You stepped into something real. You won’t have to live with regret or wonder what if.

And that thought alone is enough motivation for me.

So Let Me Ask You…

What dreams have you placed on the back burner?
What have you told yourself you couldn’t do, simply because life said you had to “do more”?

As long as there’s breath in your body, there is still time.
It’s never too late to turn the tables. To return to what lights your soul on fire.
To chase, as an adult, the very dreams you once held as a child.

I’d love to hear what those dreams are.
Would you let me know?

I read, and enjoy, every single one.
