Why You Need A Reset Day, Even When You Love What You Do.
When You Didn’t Know How Much You Needed a Reset
Last weekend, I did something I’ve never done before, and it recharged my soul in ways I hadn’t anticipated. It left me feeling both grounded and rejuvenated for the week ahead.
My husband and I, along with some friends, took their Jeep and went riding across the back mountain roads of Montana; roads I didn’t even know existed. Built for rough terrain, their Jeep allowed us to go deep into areas where regular cars are not able to go.
Some of those roads were scary, with cliffs too sheer for this girlie who’s afraid of heights. But all of that faded compared to what we saw. A true mountain lake fed by snowmelts, water so clear you could see straight through it from miles above, and snow still clinging to mountaintops in the middle of July.
Nature Does Something to the Soul
I know being out in nature isn’t for everyone. But there’s something so invigorating about it, about placing your feet where few others have been, hearing nothing but the wind through the trees, and watching wildlife play in its natural habitat.
It’s different. It’s still. It pulls you out of your everyday and fills you up in a way that’s hard to describe.
At least, that’s how it works for me.
From Mountain Trails to Creative Flow
Sure, I was tired when we got home Sunday night. But I’ve had a sense of clarity in my thinking, my focus, and even in my writing that I haven’t felt in a long time.
Words have been flowing easily this week as I continue editing my book. I feel like I’ve found a new rhythm, and I credit it to the time I spent unplugged and out in nature.
Maybe for you it’s a spa day, or a beach weekend (that one works for me too!), or a weekend with family free of schedules and responsibilities.
Find What Refuels You
Whatever it is, I encourage you to seek it out with intentionality. We all have stress. We all hit dry spells. And we all need something that fills us back up. Something that replenishes us from the inside out.
What is that for you?
Where do you go, or what do you do, when you feel like your tank is empty and your creativity has gone quiet?
Your responses always inspire me. I love hearing your thoughts, too. Feel free to drop me a message on the “Contact Me” page. I read every single one.
Find what makes you feel alive, and go do it with all your heart!
